Layout is looking good Johnny! I see you might have a little space under the layout also. Have you thought about mounting a set of drawer slides under the bench work for additional workspace, or even a roll out box/bench that might slide underneath out of your way. Just a thought! Keep up the good work and thanks for posting your pictures.

Excellent looking benchwork. As Jim says don't overlook the space under the layout. My last layout...God rest it's soul, if it had one, had a display case and a book shelf underneath for my RR and model RR stuff.

That's cool, Johnny. Yeah, I'm doing the same thing right now....just using some of my benchwork for a workbench, but I got plans for all that.

the magnifying lamp also has a daylight bulb in it, which gives you a simulated natural light. Whilst expensive, mine cost about £6 which would be about $8-$9 they are very effective

I supose I had better show where I attempt to build my models! This is my shed where eventually my layout is going to live so it wont stay like this for very long
as you can see there is plenty of naturel light which I prefer for modeling especially painting
the only thing not shown (apart from all the mess!) is my air compressor and airbrushes which are in a different area at the moment due to the big sort out thats going on

This is a surplus desk I got from work that is being turned into my primary model building workbench. The micro blaster and paint booth are out in the railroad building along with my other power tools. The chunk of wood is the barge portion of the Sheepscot Crane and Barge kit I am assembling. This weekend I hope to sheath it in styrene (the kit provides cardstock), and start building the crane base and deckhouse, Hopefully it will turn out as nice as the photo.
